ATC Copyright Policy

1. ATC clients are responsible for obtaining the permissions needed to include the work of others in their projects. Ideally, this should be accomplished before the ATC begins working on a project.

2. Any costs involved in obtaining permission to use the work of others or for creating original work that can be used in its place must be borne by ATC clients.

3. The ATC reserves the right to refrain from initiating or continuing projects until the needed intellectual property agreements are obtained.

4.  When it is technically possible and on a case-by-case basis, the Moody Medical Library may agree to host digital information on a Library server.  If this information is subject to copyright permissions or licensing agreements, the Library must be provided with copies of these before the information will be loaded on the server.  The Library will carefully comply with the stipulations of these permissions and agreements.

5. For source material originally printed in books or journals, ATC staff will show clients available directories of publishers that can be used to identify addresses and telephone numbers.

6. When questions arise regarding copyright, licensing, fair use, etc., clients will be asked to seek guidance from the Intellectual Property section of the Office of General Counsel, University of Texas System.
