Academic Resources provides convenient access to computers for using Microsoft Office products, Email, educational software, and the Web at the Learning Resource Center (LRC) and the Moody Medical Library.

Learning Resource Center (LRC) - SAHS/SON Building

The Learning Resource Center offers three PC computer labs. The labs close 15 minutes before the LRC closes to permit the staff to shut down computers.

Equipment available includes a scanner, cd writer and Zip drives. Available software includes Microsoft Office applications 2000 (Word, Excel, Front Page, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat 4.0, SPSS version (10,11) the Internet (Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape) and educational software.

All application and CAI software are accessible only through the LRC computer labs and are not available on a dial-up service. Unauthorized copying of software in the computer labs is prohibited. Unauthorized software will be removed by LRC staff.

PRINTING
Laser printing is available at the cost of five cents per page.  Printers are located opposite the front desk.

DISKS
3 1/2" floppy disks and CD-ROMS may be purchased at the Front Desk.

FYI SHEETS
"For Your Information" sheets are available in each lab to provide answers to the most commonly asked questions concerning formatting disks, printing documents, saving files, and how to use CAI software

RESERVE COMPUTER LABS for Classes
Weekly computer lab class schedules are posted on the door of each lab stating the times the lab is reserved for class sessions.

The LRC strives to keep one lab available at all times for individual use. Because of heavy class requirements during certain periods of the semester, there may be times when all labs are reserved for classes. Notice of all labs being occupied is posted on the front door to the LRC each Monday morning.

Faculty may reserve the labs for classes by contacting the Front Desk.

Moody Medical Library

Hours: M-Thur 7:30 a.m.- midnight; Fri. 7:30-6 p.m.; Sa 9a.m.- 6 p.m.; Su noon-9:00 p.m.

The Library provides PC compatible microcomputers for Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), the Internet (Microsoft Internet Explorer) and educational software for use by UTMB faculty, students, and staff. Equipment available includes Zip drives, a scanner, and a color printer.

Clients should bring their UTMB identification badges and floppy disks. Sign in at the Audiovisual Department on the second floor.
