Remote Access to the Moody Medical Library

What Does the Library Provide?
The Moody Medical Library provides access to, and assistance in using, biomedical research resources. This includes bibliographic databases, full-text journals and textbooks. For a full list, explore the Library's collection and resources on the web.
Due to licensing agreements, the library can allow access to many of these resources only to UTMB personnel. Most of these services are produced by commercial entities that do not wish to make their products freely available. These resources are restricted by network address. If you are on the UTMB campus or have an UTMB email address you are allowed to use the resource.

How Do I Access these Resources Off-Campus?
If you do not already have an Internet Service Provider (e.g. America Online, FlashNet, etc.), you can sign up for access to the UTMB modem pool. The UTMB modem pool is available for free.
To access the modem pool, your "trusted requestor" needs to make the request at:  http://intranet.utmb.edu/iram/.
Pre-configured dial-in software is available by bringing in a formatted blank floppy disk to the library's Audiovisual department on the second floor.
If you connect to the Internet using the UTMB modem pool, you will not be prompted for an ID or password when accessing library resources.

I Already Have An Internet Service Provider. Can I Still Access These Resources Off-Campus?
You can access Library resources as long as you have an active UTMB email account. When you click on a database, you will be prompted for your UTMB email user ID and password. On screen instructions will be available when connecting via an Internet Service Provider.

I Have Questions About How To Use Library Resources?
You can receive assistance with any library resource by contacting the Reference desk. Librarians are also available to do literature searches for you. The service fee is $3. The desk is staffed from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. You may seek assistance or request searches in person, by phone at 409-772-2372, or email questions to ref@utmb.edu.
